Sambad, the No. 1 Oriya daily, has introduced Yuva Sambad, an eight-page English tabloid that will be distributed free along with its Bhubaneswar edition every Saturday.

The daily has also introduced one page in English for five days a week, from Monday to Friday, in the Bhubaneswar city edition, titled Sambad Plus. Sambad Plus will cater to the youngsters.

Both the additions were introduced in DAV Public School in front of about 2,000 students from Classes V to X.

Yuva Sambad's motto is 'For the Young, By the Young, Of the Young'. It targets school, college and post-graduate students. Talking about the supplement, a company official says, "What's unique about it is that it is probably the first free English supplement to an Oriya daily broadsheet."

Write ups, achievements, poems and inputs from the students will be the mainstay of both Yuva Sambad and Sambad Plus.

For the record, Sambad was launched in 1984. The newspaper claims to have introduced offset printing technology in the state. The Oriya daily was also the first to introduce a separate sports page, a separate editorial page and weekly colour pull-outs. The daily is published from eight centres in the state.
