He will join Colors on December 1, 2011, and report to Raj Nayak, chief executive officer, Colors.

Announcing the appointment, Nayak says in an official communiqué, "Given Bhatt's extensive experience in delivering compelling content for multiple successful fiction properties over the years, we are confident that he will take the Colors' fiction shows to a new peak. I look forward to co-creating new frontiers in fiction programming on Colors."

Bhatt further adds, "I appreciate Colors' constant attempt to provide new and innovative content to viewers. It is a talented group of people with whom I will get to work with and apply my knowledge and experience to contribute to the fiction programming".

Bhatt joins Colors from Balaji Telefilms, where he was the creative head for various successful shows. He has over 16 years of experience as a writer and creative director of fiction properties for almost all GECs. In the last few years, he has also conceptualised shows, and been the creative head of various production houses, which include not just Balaji Telefilms, but also Rajshri Productions, Cinevistaas, Creative Eye, A K Films, UTV, and Shreya Creations.

It may be recalled that in October 2011, Ashvini Yardi, head, programming, Colors, had put in her papers at the organisation, with plans to explore entrepreneurial opportunities in film production.
