MBD Group, the 40-year-old publishing house, widely known for its reference books, launched the English version of its 15-year-old Hindi title Democratic World.
The English version of the magazine has been launched with an initial print run of 25,000 copies. The group will follow a controlled circulation for the first three months in order to test the market. The magazine will be available across the country from March 2012.
The distribution of the magazine will be handled by the group's own distribution wing, which has a presence across 36 cities and a tie-up with 10,000 booksellers. However, 10 per cent of the magazine distribution will be handled by the existing distribution network of Democratic World Hindi.
Democratic World is a general interest magazine covering politics, society, commerce, culture, and entertainment. The magazine will also launch a debate on issues of general concern with decision-makers and influencers.
Talking about the magazine, Malhotra Kandhari says, "Democratic World is an intelligent magazine, and gives people an informed and positive opinion of the world around them." The target group includes a high net worth male audience and opinion makers of society.
For the record, the MBD Group, apart from owning a publishing house, has diversified interests in various industries including paper manufacturing, hospitality, real-estate, management, and e-learning.
