Earlier, Cadell was regional managing director, McCann Worldgroup Southeast Asia and Australia, while Joshi was executive chairman, McCann Worldgroup India.

In an official communiqué, Brien says, "McCann Worldgroup has positioned itself for an ambitious growth strategy. Realigning the region under Cadell's and Joshi's leadership will help to drive deeper collaboration and accelerate investment opportunities in a more cohesive manner."

Cadell, who will continue to be based in Singapore, will manage and expand the group's business across the region including China, Japan, Korea and Australia. Joshi will continue to strengthen McCann Worldgroup's presence across South Asia including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.

In September 2011, the agency had appointed Yasuyuki Katagi as president and CEO of McCann Worldgroup, Japan. Katagi will now report to Cadell.

Michael McLaren, chairman, McCann Worldgroup Japan, has been relocated to New York as president, MRM East, and chief client solutions director.

In his new role, McLaren will be responsible for MRM's operations across New York, Princeton, and Detroit.
