Radaan Mediaworks appoints V Murugan as CEO

Murugan will be responsible for the overall operations and execution of all projects for the production house.

Radaan Mediaworks, one of the leading production houses in South India, has roped in V Murugan as chief executive officer. As part of his new mandate, Murugan will be responsible for the overall operations and execution of all projects for the production house. He will report to Radhika Sarathkumar, founder, chairperson and managing director, Radaan Mediaworks.

Radaan Mediaworks creates content across genres such as family dramas, sitcoms, thrillers and game shows. It also makes telefilms and feature films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Sinhalese, Gujarati, and Hindi.

Earlier, Murugan was COO, Makkal TV, for a period of two years. At Makkal, he was instrumental in the development, design, operation and improvement of the systems, which were on the verge of a shutdown, he informs. He also conceived and was actively involved in the production and launch of more than 50 unique programming content shows.

Murugan began his career in 1991 with Eureka Forbes. In 1992, he moved to media house PrimeTime IP Media as regional head, handling airtime sales of programmes on Doordarshan and satellite television -- the notable ones being 'Mahabharatha' on Sun TV, and 'Meri Awaz Suno' on DD.

He joined Raj Television Network as general manager in 1997, and was subsequently promoted to the post of vice-president, sales and marketing, for Raj TV, Raj Digital Plus, and Vissa channels. In 2008, he moved to digital and out of home media for a brief period before taking up the post of COO at Makkal TV in December 2009.

Makkal TV is a Tamil language TV channel. It was launched in 2006, and is promoted by Makkal Tholai Thodarpu Kuzhumam. Pattali Makkal Katchi leader Ramadoss is the founder of Makkal TV, while Venu Sanjeevi is its managing director.
