Prabhat Khabar launches tabloid for rural Jharkhand

Titled Panchayatnama, the tabloid will be a fortnightly that will be distributed across 24 districts of Jharkhand.

The Hindi daily Prabhat Khabar has launched a tabloid titled Panchayatnama for the rural population of Jharkhand. The Hindi tabloid will be available across 4,423 panchayats of 24 districts of the state.

The fortnightly is an all-colour tabloid and has a cover price of Rs 12 per copy. The company claims to have pre-booked 15,000 copies of Panchayatnama.

The newspaper will be 40 pages strong and will target readers in the rural areas including farmers, NGOs, panchayat members, gram sabhas, government departments and zila parishads.

The newspaper will cover news, information and issues related to the panchayat such as providing empowerment to it, keeping a tab on the development work, imparting information about the government schemes for panchayat and reviewing their development.

The company expects to generate ad revenue of Rs 50 lakh from this model on an annual basis.

Talking about the initiative, a company official says, "Villages have been cornered by everyone including the media, who for commercial reasons have forgotten to portray their real picture. Through this initiative, we want to bring development and growth to the villages of Jharkhand."
