Amar Ujala AMCL 2012: BBC, Lodestar and UTV sail through in Mumbai

The first encounter of the day was between Interactive Avenues (B) and BBC. BBC won the toss and decided to bowl first. Mandar and Preyal opened the inning for Team Interactive. While the former scored 25 runs (off 29 balls, 3X4), Preyal got out scoring just nine runs. Girish and Dinesh came next and struck a strong partnership. While Girish scored 18 runs (off 15 balls, 3X4), Dinesh scored 32 runs (off 9 balls, 4X4, 2X6). The four players of the batting order summed up the inning and gave Team BBC a 104-run target. Yusuf Batliwala of Team BBC clinched the only wicket by giving away 26 runs in two overs.

Team BBC tried its best to live up to the challenge thrown by the opponents and breached the target. Although opener Altaf went back after scoring only four runs, Yusuf Batliwala scored 39 runs (off 24 balls, 4X4, 2X6). Batliwala was supported by Vijaynanda, who scored 35 runs (off 20 balls, 3X4, 2X6). Girish of Team Interactive cornered two wickets but couldn't help his side win. Team BBC met the target in nine overs and won the match by six wickets. Yusuf Batliwala walked away with the Man of the Match title for his all-round performance.

GroupM (B) versus Lodestar

The next match of the day was between GroupM (B) and Lodestar. The latter won the toss and decided to bowl. Shailesh and Abhishek opened the batting attack for Team GroupM. Buckling under the tricky bowling attack, Shailesh went back after scoring only one run, while Abhishek scored 10 runs and was declared out running between the wickets. None of the following batsmen could score well to support the team's performance. Tejas, Chinmay and Prashant grabbed a wicket each. Team GroupM set a humble target of 86 runs.

Team Lodestar displayed determination but both the openers, Sahil and Prashant, dwindled. While Tejas scored 21 runs (in 20 balls, 3X4), Chinmay scored 34 runs (off 17 balls, 4X4, 2X6). After a harsh inning, Team Lodestar managed to breach the target and scored 88 runs in nine overs. Team Lodestar won the face-off by two wickets. Chinmay was declared the Man of the Match.

Dentsu versus UTV

The last match of the day was between Dentsu and UTV. The latter won the toss and decided to bowl first. Sandip, the opener, went back after scoring just one run. Nihar, the next in line, scored 25 runs (off 28 balls, 2X4). The team wrapped up its inning at 68 runs, losing four wickets. Lijo and Uzair of Team UTV took a wicket each.

The opening pair of Team UTV, Sagar and Abid, scored 13 runs (off 10 balls, 2X4) and 30 runs (off 17 balls, 4X4, 1X6), respectively. Nihar and Nadim of Team Dentsu cornered a wicket each. Team UTV won the match by five wickets. Abid was adjudged the Man of the Match for his measured batting performance.
