LinkedIn launches iPad app

The newly launched free app is aimed at professionals who are on the go and is an attempt by LinkedIn to target the growing mobile population, with 22 per cent of its traffic coming from mobile devices.

Professional networking website LinkedIn has announced the launch of the LinkedIn application for iPad. Taking into account the new and specific ways that professionals are using their mobile devices, LinkedIn, with this free application, aims to help professionals to be better prepared and empowered to make smarter business decisions, wherever they may be working.

Commenting on the launch, Hari V Krishnan, country manager, LinkedIn, says, "At LinkedIn, our focus continues to be on increasing the productivity of our members. We realise that today's professional workforce is a mobile workforce. Hence, we constantly strive to provide them with simple solutions to achieve success and deliver a seamless LinkedIn experience everywhere. Through LinkedIn's iPad experience, we will deliver another simple yet dynamic experience to assist professionals on the go."

The features of the new LinkedIn iPad application include a calendar feature that allows the users to get an informative snapshot of all the people they will meet that day and everything they need to know about them. It also features a 'News you can use' section, through which the users can get timely and relevant news surfaced by what their connections and industry peers are sharing and reading.

The mobile platform is the fastest growing consumer service at LinkedIn, with 22 per cent of LinkedIn traffic coming from mobile devices.
