Homecoming: Joy Chakraborthy back at BCCL as director, Response

Prior to this, Chakraborthy was CEO at the TV Today Network. He replaces Sujoy Ghosh, an old hand at BCCL, who has called it quits.

Bennett Coleman and Co Limited (BCCL), the parent company of The Times of India Group of Publications, has roped in Joy Chakraborthy as director, Response. This will be Chakraborthy's second stint with the Times group. Meanwhile, Sujoy Ghosh, director, Response, has put in his papers. Response is the advertising and marketing outfit of the group.

Earlier, Chakraborthy was CEO at the TV Today Network. Chakraborthy joined the TV Today Network in December, 2011 to replace G Krishnan, who quit TV Today in September, 2011. He had moved in from Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL), ending his six-year stint with the company.

Chakraborthy joined Zee in March, 2005 to head the ad sales function of the company, which was then known as Zee Telefilms. Later, he became chief revenue officer and chief operating officer for niche channels before taking on the role of executive director for revenue and niche channels.

Chakraborthy is armed with about 16 years of experience in strategic media sales across media organisations such as The Times of India Group and STAR India. A graduate from the National Defence Academy with a Master's degree in marketing management from NMIMS, he has also completed Advanced Management Programme from the Harvard Business School.

Meanwhile, Ghosh has been associated with the Times group since 1993, barring a one year stint at Shoppers Stop during 1994 as deputy GM, marketing.

Ghosh has a bachelor's degree in commerce from Calcutta University and completed Master of Management Studies from the University of Bombay. During his 27-year career, he has been associated with Forbes Campbell, Apple Industries, The Times of India and Shoppers Stop.
