Sudarshan Banerjee quits DDB Mudra

Banerjee plans to go the entrepreneurial way.

Sudarshan Banerjee, director, business development, DDB Mudra Group and executive vice-president and head, DDB Mudra Ahmedabad, has put in his papers. He has been with Mudra since 2009.

While Banerjee remained unavailable for comment at the time of filing this report, highly placed industry sources have confirmed the news to afaqs!.

Sources further inform that Banerjee is set to launch his own venture in the brand-cum-advertising space soon.

During his first two years at Mudra, Banerjee served as vice-president, Mudra India. His mandate included leading the new business agenda in the Mudra West operation. In April 2011, he took over from Chandan Nath as head of the Ahmedabad-based Ignite Mudra as Nath, the then president of Ignite Mudra, stepped down and moved into an advisory role.

Banerjee, who has about 18 years of industry experience, started his career in the ad-media space as a copywriter in 1994. In his career so far, he has worked with several leading ad and media agencies including Onyx Associates in Kolkata (where it all began), Bates Clarion (as an intern), Zenith Media (now MEC), Mediacom (in Bangladesh), MPG (Euro RSCG's media arm), iContract (to head its Mumbai operations), Saatchi & Saatchi (where he was associate vice-president, client servicing, and worked on TVS Flame and aol.in) and Genesis Advertising (where he led the Mumbai branch as vice-president and general manager; he was also in-charge of Exhibit Genesis, which works in the area of exhibitions).

He has worked on brands such as British American Tobacco, Reckitt Benckiser, ITC, HSBC, Tata Indicom, Shoppers Stop, Onida, P&G, Glaxo Smithkline, Coca-Cola and Emirates Airlines, amongst others.
