The agency's Chennai branch will handle the account. In fact, for JWT Chennai, this win is a consolidation exercise of sorts as the team already handles the group's hotels business.

The brand team was on the lookout for a communications partner with a pan-India presence and an understanding of today's jewellery consumer. JWT's network presence and long-term association with brands like the DTC (Diamond Trading Company) helped it clinch this win.

The GRT Group is a well-diversified business group with interests in several areas including hospitality, agriculture, education, trading and non-conventional power. Currently, the group's jewellery business is well established in Tamil Nadu's retail market and is rapidly expanding operations to other South Indian states as well.

JWT Chennai's clientele includes names like MRF, Univercell, GRT Hotels, Tamil Nadu Mercantile Bank, TI Cycles, Dalmia Cements and Renuka Builders, amongst several others.

For the record, JWT India, a WPP company, currently operates through offices in six cities. Some of the agency's blue chip clients include Airtel, Aditya Birla Financial Services, Bharti Retail, PepsiCo, Frito-Lay, ITC, Godrej, Hindustan Unilever, GSK Consumer Healthcare, Hero Moto Corp, Ford, Nike, Nestle, Nokia, Pizza Hut, UB, Kingfisher, Kellogg's, TISCO and Exide.
