Radio One partners karaoke championship for agency folk

The competition commences on November 29 and will take place at The Media Café, a unique B2B café launched by Sudha Natrajan and Raghav Subramanian earlier this year.

Inter-agency competition is about to get a tad tougher for the creative and media fraternity this festive season. Radio One 94.3 FM and The Media Café (TMC) have come together to launch a first of its kind English Karaoke Championship. It will be held in Delhi especially for creative and media agencies.

The competition commences on November 29 (Thursday) and will take place on every subsequent Thursday till December, 20. The entry fee per agency is Rs 1,000 for a two-member team. An agency can send in a maximum of two teams.

Pre-championship buzz has already begun on air, on Radio One Delhi. The station will continue to share sound bites of the event every Thursday. Further, weekly winners will sing on air on Radio One.

Addressing this unique concept, Rajesh Ranjan, station director, Radio One Delhi, says in an official communiqué, "Our international format finds a very loyal base of listeners within creative and media agencies and we felt their love and talent for English music and singing will make great content both on Radio One and on ground in TMC."

At the venue, participants will be able to choose from a wide range of well known English songs and professional KJs (Karaoke Jocks) will guide them through the competition. Judges from Radio One, the music fraternity and TMC will evaluate the contestants' performances.

Prizes for the best male singer, best female singer and best duo will be announced every week and the final winners will be announced on December, 20. Prizes for spectators are also on the cards. Since Radio One is the partner for the India Guns n Roses tour, it will have a special 'GnR Song Round', through which contestants at TMC can avail passes for the GnR concert.

TMC is a unique B2B café launched by Sudha Natrajan and Raghav Subramanian earlier this year. The corporation operates as a comprehensive, specialised media offering and strategic consultancy. According to Team TMC, this initiative with Radio One will help build some healthy camaraderie amongst ad-media professionals.
