Madison Media has announced that it will take on board Amit Duggal as director, digital, North and East. Duggal will handle the digital businesses of Delhi and Kolkata.

Duggal, who will join Madison on January 15, 2013, will report to V Achuthan Kutty, director, digital of Madison. Earlier this year, Punitha Arumugam quit the agency as group CEO, and was replaced by Gautam Kiyawat in April, 2012.

In an official communiqué, Kiyawat says that Duggal is expected to add a lot of value to the agency's digital clients and help them make digital a significant driver of the business. His mandate will also be to win new businesses.

Duggal joins Madison from Mindshare, where he was partner, Invention, with a mandate to grow the digital marketing business for the FMCG category.

Duggal, who has come from GroupM, feels that he has a good bunch of global learnings from the group. "Speaking in the Indian context, I am really looking forward to learn a lot more beyond the global learnings' dose that I got at Mindshare."

Apart from generating new businesses, his primary mandate at Madison will be to grow the digital business in terms of value to the clients and create greater engagement for them. "I am aiming at taking the digital businesses to newer levels. By this, I mean that we have seen the brands becoming publishers and generating their own content. I will work to increase brand connect and consumer engagement,"

adds Duggal.

This is the eighth assignment for the post graduate in marketing from EMPI, who started his career with a short stint at Percept H as account executive. Duggal then moved on to join Leo Burnett in the same capacity, after spending 10 months at Percept H.

At Leo Burnett, Duggal managed advertising in the North and East regions for the McDonald's account. After nine months, he shifted to Indiatimes.com as manager, marketing in 2005, where he was first handed over the digital mandate, and also worked for the offline campaigns.

Moving on after a year and a half, he joined Yatra Online in 2006 as online marketing manager. This was Duggal's first stint with a complete digital mandate to his name. Being a part of the launch team, he led the online launch campaigns for the travel portal.

However, within four months, he again moved to another travel website, Travelguru, as head, online media and internet sales. Here, he was responsible for analytics, SEO, online alliances, SEM, Whitelabels, affiliate marketing and e-mailer programmes.

After two years, he joined Geodesic as head, online marketing, in 2008. There, he handled online and mobile marketing for the brand. After a year, he joined Mindshare as partner, Invention, in 2011.
