GLO appoints Ovez Khan as group vice-president

The out of home arm that was formed after Lodestar UM and Greenline got together has appointed Ovez Khan as its group vice-president. Khan has more than 16 years of experience.

Ovez Khan, former group vice-president, Realm Media has joined GLO as group vice-president. He will take care of pan India operations for GLO.

GLO is the out of home outfit that was formed in 2011 after Lodestar UM and Greenline came together.

Speaking on his appointment, Khan says, "I will be responsible for increasing the business for the organization."

He adds that there will a huge expansion in the team strength at GLO as it plans to add several new businesses.

Khan says that digital is eating up a lot of revenue of OOH. He adds, "With the beginning of a new financial year from April, the industry is expected to see a growth; it has been relatively quiet for the past six-eight months."

Khan will now be responsible for establishing associates and core team and will also play an integral role in growing the Pan India Operations for GLO. Additionally, he will be responsible for national business development for OOH, Retail, and Below the Line Solutions.

Mumbai is the hometown of Khan and he will return to it after a gap of six years. Khan has 16 years of experience in OOH and ambient advertising, BTL marketing, sales, brand management and acquisitions.

Khan started his career with Standard Chartered in sales and his stint with the company lasted for more than four years. Later, he joined ABN Amro as business manager for West India. He then moved on to Captions Today India as head, marketing.

Khan has also worked with agencies such as Mudra Max, Posterscope Worldwide and Percept OOH. His last stint was at Realm Media, where he began working in 2011 and was responsible for activations, retail, OOH media, digital advertising accounts and new business acquisition. He has worked with several leading brands such as Big Bazaar, Allen Solly, Levi's, Tanishq, Toyota, Kotak and ING Vysya, among others.

GLO was established in 2011 and currently manages OOH for large global brands such as Coca-Cola, Tata Motors, Microsoft, MasterCard, HCL, Omron, Amul, Piramal Healthcare, Lee Cooper, Mercedes Benz and many Indian blue chip companies such as DLF, Future Group, Jaypee and Radico Khaitan.
