The new edition has been launched with an initial print run of about 25,000 copies; the company expects to reach 60,000 copies in a month's time. The Satna edition will bear a cover price of Rs 2 for four days from Monday to Thursday and Rs 2.50 for the remaining three days of the week.

The new edition will cover five districts including Satna, Rewa, Panna, Sidhi and Singrauli. Till now, Patrika had negligible copies in the region due to the distance from Jabalpur and poor road connectivity. The publication has editions across MP including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain and Ratlam.

Satna will be an important market in MP for the publication as it is rich in limestone and dolomite and houses many big cement manufacturing industries. As per the reports, the city contributes about 9 per cent of India's total cement production. The neighbouring city of Satna, Panna, also has diamond mines, while Sidhi possesses coal deposits which feed major industries across the country; Singrauli is known for power generation.

For the record, the Patrika Group publishes the Hindi daily, Rajasthan Patrika and is a 55-year-old company that started as an evening newspaper. Apart from Madhya Pradesh, it is also present in Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan.
