Eyeing it: JWT sets theme for Portfolio Night 11

The theme aims to do away the myths in the advertising industry today.

JWT India unveiled the theme for Portfolio Night 11 that is scheduled to be held at the JWT India office on May 22. Being held for the fourth time in India, the event will be hosted by JWT for the first time. Ogilvy managed the event on the earlier three occasions.

The theme for Portfolio Night 11 is 'An Eye Opener'. JWT India has released the first video for the event on the social media and digital platforms. It shows a young man aspiring for a break in an advertising agency. He lands up for an interview with Ashish Khazanchi, national creative director, Publicis Ambience.

The agency has also put up eight-10 large format billboards across key points in Mumbai and is targeting the advertising colleges across Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Baroda and others.

On the social media front, the agency plans to initiate conversations and connect with the youth on what they think about advertising. A Twitter hashtag, #WhatIThinkAboutAdvertising, asks students to use this hashtag and tweet @pnmumbai11 on their thoughts.

As a part of the campaign, the responses of a few advertising students have been seeded on the
. Some innovative tweets have been converted into posters, which are put up in colleges and circulated online.

The agency has also created a microsite, http://portfolionight.com/11/, where the interested participants can find information on registration. Registrations will be open till May 21 and JWT India has kept the number of registrations to 100. The cost for registering at the event is USD 40.

Prasoon Joshi, Piyush Pandey, Ashish Khazanchi, Sonal Dabral, Amer Jaleel, Manish Bhatt, Raghu Bhat, Malvika Mehra, Santosh Paddy, Russel Barett, Carlton D'Silva, K S Chakravarthy (Chax), Ravi Deshpande, Josy Paul and Sagar Mahabaleshwarkar are some of the creative people who will evaluate the portfolios of the participants.

Speaking about the theme for the event this year, Tista Sen, NCD, JWT India, says, "We aim to bust the myths that are associated with the advertising industry. Many think that to work in advertising, you have to be cool, show an accent, be able to drink well and others. We want to tell people that it's simple and serious hard work, and as good as any other industry."

Portfolio Night is a platform for advertising and creative freshers to meet with several renowned creative directors for advice, networking and recruitment.

The event is scheduled to take place simultaneously in over 20 cities on the date across the world, including Athens, Austin, Beijing, Boston, Costa Rica, Johannesburg, Los Angeles, Montreal, New York, Paris, Sao Paulo, Stockholm, Tokyo and Toronto, amongst others.

Portfolio Night is an annual property of 'IHAVEANIDEA', the creative founders and the world's first and largest community of the international advertising industry. Istockphoto, Pantone and VCU Brandcenter are the global partners of the event. The event was introduced in 2002.
