Taproot's Agnello Dias features in Fast Company list

Ranked 59th, Dias is the only Indian named in the US-based magazine's 100 Most Creative People in Business list for 2013.

It has been a bumper year for Agnello Dias, co-founder and chief creative officer, Taproot India. His name has figured in the 100 Most Creative People in Business list for 2013 compiled by US-based Fast Company magazine. Dias, who has been ranked 59, has been described as 'India's most decorated (and progressive) adman' by the magazine. The list is the most coveted and names well-known personalities across varied industries including entertainment, medicine, fashion, technology, academia and social enterprise from the world over.

Earlier this year, the creative boutique agency bagged 18 metals at Goafest, held last month. It was also awarded Creative Agency of the Year at Ad Fest 2013 held in Thailand. Even in the Gunn Report 2012, the agency found mention as the No. 1 creative agency in India.

Responding to the news, Dias says, "I am quite thrilled on hearing this because while buried in work, one normally tends to use only the advertising and marketing fields as reference points. To have been noticed, let alone recognised, across all forms of creativity and business and that too globally, is humbling to say the least."

Rohit Ohri, executive chairman, Dentsu India Group also shared the excitement over Dias being named in the list. "This is a fantastic recognition. Aggi is the only Indian advertising professional on this list. The entire Dentsu Network is truly proud of him," he adds.

The list's top position has been occupied by Nate Silver, author of the blog FiveThirtyEight.com on the New York Times website. He successfully predicted the results of the US Presidential elections.

Fast Company is an e-magazine that covers innovation in technology, ethical economics, leadership and design. The business media website was set up in 1995 by two former Harvard Business Review editors Alan Webber and Bill Taylor. The content on the portal is written by business leaders and is targeted at the same community. The magazine was set up on the notion that 'a global revolution was changing business, and business was changing the world'.

Taproot India, which is now part of the Dentsu Network, was set up in 2009 by Agnello Dias and Santosh Padhi. Within three years of its existence, the agency was one of Cannes Lions top 20 independent agencies across the globe. Some of the brands that it has worked for include PepsiCo, Airtel, The Times of India, Polycab, Marico, Karbonn Mobiles, Mumbai Mirror, Nirma and NourishCo.
