Havas Media India has bagged the media duties of Simmtronics, an Indian tablet manufacturing company. The agency won the account after a multi-agency pitch, which took place in Delhi. Earlier, the company's media requirements were handled by a local Delhi-based agency.

The business size is pegged at Rs 50 crore.

On the decision to appoint Havas Media, Indrajit Sabharwal, managing director, Simmtronics, says, "We have aggressive plans for the year and wanted a like-minded partner on board. It was a tough fight between equally competent agencies. Havas Media's response, its understanding of our brief, the customised media solution recommended and the huge passion for our business was something we were looking for. We are sure it will contribute significantly to our business growth."

Smarth Bansal, brand manager, Simmtronics says that the agency's knowledge of the mobile and telecom industry impressed them. "Moreover, it has worked with prominent brands, knows how to build a brand amid the clutter today, and how to position it appropriately," Bansal informs.

Anita Nayyar, CEO, Havas Media Group India and South Asia, is happy with the account win. "It is also a very interesting category and we look forward to working with them," she says.

Agreeing with Nayyar, Mohit Joshi, managing director, Havas Media India says the past two quarters have been good for Havas, with many new business acquisitions. "With this win, we are hopeful of keeping up this momentum through this quarter as well," he says.

Delhi-based Simmtronics is the registered trademark of Simmtronics Semiconductors. Its core competency is in manufacturing memory modules, motherboards and VGA cards. The brand claims its XPAD is India's first gaming tab and it has tied up with Digilife Distribution and Marketing Services, a subsidiary of HCL Infosystems, to distribute it in the country.

Simmtronics has five manufacturing facilities - three in India (two in Roorkee and one in Bhiwadi) and one each in Dubai and Singapore. Besides India, the company's sales offices are situated in Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Taiwan, UAE, the UK, USA, Vietnam, Mauritius, Macedonia, Algeria and France.
