Cannes 2013: 43 Indian entries in Outdoor Lions shortlist

The agencies include O&M, Gurgaon and Mumbai, McCann Worldgroup, Grey Worldwide, Publicis Communications, Taproot India, Leo Burnett and BBDO.

After single digit shortlists for India on Day 1, Indian entries seem to be faring much better on Day 2.

India seems to have done extremely well with 43 shortlisted entries in the Outdoor Lions shortlist, announced in the morning. Interestingly, many of these entries have been generated by O&M, McCann Worldgroup and Taproot. There are 661 shortlisted entries in the category, this year.

Ogilvy & Mather, Gurgaon, has eleven shortlisted entries to its credit, while four of O&M, Mumbai, have made it to the list. The O&M, Gurgaon's entries include works on Philips Electronics' LED Torch titled 'Alley' and 'Gorge' under the Home Appliances, Furnishings, Electronics & Audio-Visual sub category. The same entry has also been shortlisted under Photography sub category with an additional title 'Forest'. Another shortlisted entry is of work done for WWF India titled 'Panda', 'Hippo' and 'Bear' under Fundraising, Charities, Appeals, Non-Profit Organisations, Public Health & Safety sub category. The campaign for Electrical Iron of Philips Electronics (India) titled 'Road Rollers' and the 'Building' campaign for Sukrit Power Tool's Drills and Saws product have been labeled under Special Build sub category. And, the 'Blind School Bag' campaign for Blind Relief Association run Blind School, which lies under Small Scale Special Solutions has also been shortlisted.

O&M, Mumbai, has four shortlisted entries, which include 'Grass' campaign for Hot Wheel Toy Cars, Mattel Toys (India) in Entertainment & Leisure sub category, and the campaign on dog adoption for World For All NGO titled 'Train', 'Terrance' and 'Noose' in the Fundraising, Charities, Appeals, Non-Profit Organisations, Public Health & Safety sub category.

McCann Worldgroup's campaign for publishing group Penguin Group (India) audiobooks titled 'William Shakespeare', 'Mark Twain' and 'Oscar Wilde'. This shortlisted entry lies in Publication and Media, and Illustration sub categories. This makes the toll of agency's shortlisted entries to six.

Taproot India has nine shortlisted entries. Its campaign for Pepsico's Gatorade product titled 'Push Ups with Claps', 'Skate Board Shove It' and 'Back Flip' lies in Drinks (Alcoholic & Non-Alcoholic) sub category. The campaign for Bennett Coleman's English newspaper Times Of India titled 'Farmers' Suicides 1', 'Farmers Suicides 2' and 'Farmers' Suicides 3' has been chosen twice under Fundraising, Charities, Appeals, Non-Profit Organisations, Public Health & Safety, and Illustration sub categories.

Leo Burnett, Mumbai, has made it to the list with its campaign for Getty Images' Editorial Photographs product titled 'Zebra Crossing', 'Vulture' and 'Kiss' under the Business Equipment and Services sub category. The Coca-Cola India's Coke Studio campaign titled 'Reflection of Music - Table Mat' has also been shortlisted under Bars, Restaurants & Stores, etc sub category. The agency has four shortlisted entries in the competition for Outdoor Lions.

Grey Worldwide has seven shortlisted entries. Six of the entries are for its campaign for P&G's Duracell Batteries. While three of the works are titled 'Positive & Negative', the other three titles include 'Man', 'Woman' and 'Music'. All the entries lie under Household sub category. The agency's DHL Express Courier campaign titled 'Divorce' is the other shortlisted entry, which lies under the Business Equipment & Services sub category.

For Publicis Communications, Mumbai, campaigns for P&G's Vicks Cough Drops titled 'Vocals' lies in Cosmetics & Beauty, Toiletries & Pharmacy sub category.

Like Publicis, BBDO, Mumbai, also has one shortlisted entry for the 'Blood Donation' campaign on Gillette Guard, a P&G product.

The Outdoor Lions category received 5613 entries in total (a rise of 16 per cent over last year), out of which Indian contributed 249 entries (it was 219, last year).
