STAR India's flagship Hindi general entertainment channel Star Plus has successfully pushed six of its shows to the top shows' list, out of which the top five shows (Diya Aur Baati Hum, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Masterchef India GF, Pyaar Ka Dard and Saathiya Saath Nibhana) are the most watched ones on Indian television.
Following Star Plus is Zee TV that has jumped to the No. 2 slot in the Hindi GECs' hierarchy from No. 3 in the previous week. The channel is the biggest gainer of the week with an addition of 13 GRPs. The channel closed the week with 193 GRPs and has two of its shows featured in the top shows' list.
While Zee TV's shows like Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke and Pavitra Rishta saw addition of eyeballs, the television premiere of Bollywood movie 'ABCD' clocked 2.7 TVRs in its first airing on June 9 and 1.5 TVRs in the second airing during the evening.
Meanwhile, Colors has slipped to No. 3 on the ladder. Despite having two shows in the top list, the channel managed to collect 181 GRPs in its kitty, down from 198 points in the previous week. Almost all the shows of the channel have seen a dip in viewership.
Sony has held on to the fourth spot with 151 GRPs, two GRPs more than the previous week. The channel had closed the gap with STAR India's Life OK, both garnering 149 GRPs in Week 23. In Week 24, it has moved ahead but has no show in the top list.
Taking the No. 5 spot is Sony's sister channel SAB, which added two GRPs to collect 140 GRPs, while Life OK that had a dream run in the previous week lost 23 GRPs to register 127 GRPs in the week ended June 15.
Sahara One added three GRPs to conclude the week with 19 GRPs.
Diya Aur Baati Hum with 4.8 TVRs is the leader in the most watched shows' list, followed by Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai that gathered 3.8 TVRs. Star Plus aired the Grand Finale of Masterchef Kitchen Ke Superstar on June 14, which notched 3.7 TVRs making the show the third most watched during the week.
At No. 4 is Pyaar Ka Dard that registered 3.5 TVRs, with Saathiya Saath Nibhana at No. 5 (3.3 TVRs). Saathiya Saath Nibhana shared the spot with SAB's Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma (3.3 TVRs).
While the top 5 ranking shows belonged to Star Plus, Zee TV's Dance India Dance Super Moms rated a peak TVR of 3.2, continuing to hold its grip on the sixth spot. The show's peak rating in the earlier two weeks was 3 TVRs.
At No.7 is Colors' Madhubala that continues to gain popularity amongst audiences. It is followed by Zee TV's Qubool Hai that clocked a peak TVR of 3 during the week.
Colors' Balika Vadhu and Star Plus' Veera occupied the No.9 and No.10 slots with 2.9 TVRs and 2.8 TVRs, respectively.First Published : September 25, 2014 04:04 PM
