Presentation: Body spray segment offers a good opportunity

The consumption pattern in the working male segment is higher compared to any other category.

Lokusdesign, a branding and packaging design consultancy, has released its latest report on the body spray industry, which it gathered after speaking to consumers and brand managers in the sector.


In India, the body spray market comprises about 350 brands offered by various FMCG and pharmaceutical companies. The size of the body spray and deodorant market is about Rs 1,400 crore, showing a growth rate of 55 per cent year on year. In fact, the body spray segment has overpowered the talcum powder segment.

The roll on deodorant industry is relatively new and valued at a smaller Rs 400 crore.

Lokusdesign's report suggests that male working professionals spend more on body sprays when compared to any other category.

The report also reveals that body spray brands have been unable to engage and connect with the consumers, and need to invest more to create connect. The report highlights the opportunity for brand innovation in each consumer category, and the extent to which innovation can help.
