He has been assigned the role of creative head, North, and will operate from Delhi.

Sambit Mohanty (also known as 'Sam'), the former executive creative director at McCann Erickson, Delhi, has joined DDB Mudra. Mohanty will be creative head, North, and will be based in Delhi. He will report to Sonal Dabral, chairman and chief creative officer, DDB Mudra Group.

On Mohanty's appointment, Dabral says, "New Delhi is an extremely important market for us so I'm really happy that a talent like Sambit will lead our creative offering there. Sambit is among the rare breed of creative professionals in India who are equally comfortable with Hindi or English, with paper and pen or mouse and computer screen. I'm certain Sambit will play a big role in helping shape an exciting creative future for DDB Mudra Group."

Vandana Das, president, DDB Mudra Delhi, adds that she believes Mohanty has the three creative 'I's - Inspiration, Imagination and Involvement. "Many 'I's put together becomes 'We' and I look forward to generating some more incredible work from our office," she says.

On his part, Mohanty says, "It's a privilege to be part of DDB's creative culture that's guided by play books not rule books. With Sonal's help, I am keen on creating a place where one looks forward to coming to work - even on a Monday morning. And, also producing some glorious work along the way!"

Having over 14 years of experience in advertising and design, some of the brands he has worked on include Coca-Cola, GM, Nestle, HP, Pernod-Ricard, Virgin Mobile, Hitachi, Max Bupa, Godfrey Philips, The Indian Express, BBC World, Tanishq, Britannia and Reckitt-Benckiser. He began his career as copywriter with McCann in 1999 and has been associated with agencies like Leo Burnett, Publicis, Lowe Lintas, Vyas Giannetti Creative, Elephant Design and Bates CHI & Partners. In fact, Mohanty was in the core team that worked on Coca-Cola's 'Haan, Haan, Mein Crazy Hoon' and Aircel's 'Thoda Extra Milta Hai Toh Achcha Lagta Hai' campaigns. Many of his works have won national and international awards.

Mohanty is also popular in the Delhi quiz circuit, having been the national winner of the Brand Equity quiz and finalist at BBC Mastermind.
