GEC Watch: Zee TV is the only gainer of the week

The Zee Network channel added 15106 GVTs in Week 48. The order of the Hindi GEC channels remains same as last week.

Zee Entertainment Enterprises' flagship Hindi general entertainment channel Zee TV added 15106 GVTs in Week 48 of TAM to register 448553 GVTs. The channel remained at No.3 in the Hindi GEC hierarchy. The maha-episode of its dance reality show Dance India Dance aired a two hour special on November 30 that garnered 4392 TVTs. Two of the channel's shows have featured in the top show's list.

As per TAM data (C&S, HSM, 4+), Star Plus continues to lead the flock in Week 48 as well. The channel added 12166 GVTs to conclude the week with 54833 GVTs. The channel's recently launched celebrity dance show, Nach Baliye, rated 4267 TVTs (average) in the week ended November 30. The top 10 show's list includes five shows from Star Plus.

Following Star Plus is Colors that grossed 478534 GVTs (last week 513415 GVTs) in this week. The channel's popular reality show Bigg Boss clocked an average of 5102 TVTs (last week 5491 TVTs) as Anil Kapoor's 24 managed to record 2797 TVTs (last week 3058 TVTs) in this week. Two of the channel's shows have appeared in the top 10 shows' chart.

At No.4 is Star's second rung GEC Life OK that closed the week with 334327 GVTs (last week 335013 GVTs). The channel had launched a horror show, Khauff Begins...Ringa Ringa Roses on November 30 that opened with 2539 TVTs.

Meanwhile, Sony Entertainment Television's younger sibling SAB TV ended the week with 269269 GVTs (last week 308133 GVTs) as Sony could just manage to get 238987 GVTs (last week 269332). Both Sony and SAB have been affected by the on-going distribution issue. The channels are not airing in the Hindi GEC line-up in the EPG of Hathway and some other distribution networks as well. The other MSM channels like Sony Pix, Sony Six and AXN are also suffering from distribution conflicts.

STAR Utsav got 89628 GVTs (97734) as Sahara One fetched 33691 GVTs (30429). Zee Anmol closed the week with 55524 GVTs (46088).

Star Plus' Diya Aur Baati Hum continues to lead the 'top 10 shows' chart with a peak rating of 11905 TVTs in Week 48. It was followed by Zee TV's latest historical show, Jodha Akbar that garnered 11125 TVTs.

At No. 3 is Star Plus' Saathiya Saath Nibhana that notched 9202 TVTs as SAB TV's flagship property, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma gathered 8237 TVTs.

Colors' Comedy Nights with Kapil stood at No. 5 with 7851 TVTs. It was followed by Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Mahabharat that rated 7643 TVTs and 7425 TVTs, respectively.

Next is Zee TV's Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke that clocked 7213 TVTs in Week 48 of TAM. Star Plus' Pyaar Ka Dard and Colors' Baalika Vadhu are next with 7199 TVTs and 6929 TVTs, respectively.

For the record, TVT is television viewership in 1000s (TVR in 1000). It is the average number of individuals in '000s that are available at any given minute of the programme/day part that is under consideration. It captures growth in TV audiences in the country in absolute numbers. The TVR system, in contrast, works on percentages.
