Organised by the IAA, the Olive Crown Awards were launched in 2011. They celebrate excellence in communicating sustainability or 'green' advertising.

Last year, the event was endorsed by the Asian Federation of Advertising Associations (AFAA) and went on to become the first ever pan-Asian event of its kind. AFAA will continue to endorse it this year.

Srinivasan Swamy, chairman, R K Swamy BBDO; president, India Chapter and VP, development, Asia Pacific, IAA, says, "These awards have acquired the hue of a 'cause' and this is one of the reasons for their universal acceptance."

Ramesh Narayan, founder, Canco Advertising and M G Parameswaran, executive director and CEO, Draftfcb, are co-chairmen of the IAA Olive Crown Awards.

Parameswaran adds, "We cannot put a price on our commitment to Brand Earth and that is why there is no entry fee for this one-of-a-kind award. The quality of entries was very high last year and we are expecting an even better standard this time."

The last date for sending in entries is January 31. The awards will be presented in Mumbai in March, 2014.

For the third time in succession, 9XM will be the presenting sponsor of the awards. Hungama and the Patrika Group are the Green partners.

Grey Worldwide bagged 'The Agency of the Year' in the 2013 edition of International Advertising Award, India Chapter.

For the record, the International Advertising Association (IAA) is a one-of-a-kind strategic institution, which addresses the common interests of all the disciplines across the full spectrum of marketing communications, from advertisers to media companies, agencies to direct marketing firms, as well as individual practitioners.

Founded in 1938, the IAA promotes the freedom to compete through responsible commercial speech, defends consumer choice made possible by commercial speech, which informs, inspires and empowers individuals to raise their sights and reach for the life they want; upholds brand building communications as a force that can enable consumers to make an informed choice.

The India Chapter of IAA (IC-IAA) was incorporated in July 1991, to constitute a local chapter of the global body.
