GEC Watch: Colors is biggest gainer of the week, courtesy Bigg Boss 7 Finale

The Salman Khan-hosted show rated around 9600 TVTs in its Finale, giving Colors a big push. The channel added 39221 GVTs in Week 52 of TAM.

The Salman Khan-hosted show aired its Grand Finale episode on December 28. In Bigg Boss 7 finale, Colors aired performances by the "love-struck" celebrity contestants of the house -Tanisha Mukherjee and Armaan Kohli and Gauhar Khan (winner of the season) and Kushal Tandon, along with dance performances by other ex-contestants and Salman Khan.

As per TAM data (HSM, 4+, C&S, including LC1 markets) provided by a TAM subscriber, Colors held on to the second spot with 527226 GVTs. Its non-fiction shows, Comedy Nights with Kapil and Bigg Boss, found themselves placed in the top shows' list along with the channel's leading fiction show, Balika Vadhu.

Star Plus continued to don the hat of the leading Hindi GEC with 605514 GVTs (last week 599179 GVTs). Its dance reality show, Nach Baliye Season 6, averaged 3700 TVTs on Saturday (December 28) and 3500 TVTs on Sunday (December 22).Five of the shows of the channel featured in the top 10 shows' list.

At No. 3 is Zee TV that added numbers to close the week with 430836 GVTs (last week 408807 GVTs). The channel could push two of its shows in the top 10 list.

SAB TV replaced Life OK at No. 4 as it notched 330358 GVTs (last week 308658 GVTs) in the week ended December, 28. Its Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma continues to be in the top shows' list. Life OK, meanwhile, registered 323589 GVTs (last week 325759 GVTs).

Sony, at No.6, clocked 271852 GVTs (last week 254912 GVTs).The MSM flagship channel had launched two new shows in Week 52. While Main Na Bhulungi at 8 pm opened with 1600 TVTs (weekly average 1100 TVTs), Ek Nayi Pehchaan at 8.30 pm opened with 2000TVTs (weekly average 1900 TVTs).

STAR Utsav followed with 73451 GVTs and Zee Anmol with 62566 GVTs. Sahara One stood last at 34888 GVTs.

Star Plus' Diya Aur Baati Hum retains its position of being the most watched show on Indian television with an average rating of 11800 TVTs in Week 52. It was followed by Zee TV's latest historical show, Jodha Akbar that gathered 10300 TVTs.

At No. 3 is SAB TV's flagship property, Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma that garnered 9900 TVTs, while Star Plus' Saathiya Saath Nibhana was the fourth most watched show in the week with 9700 TVTs.

Bigg Boss 7 Finale notched 9600 TVTs. Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai occupied the sixth spot with 9300 TVTs and Colors' Comedy Nights with Kapil took the seventh spot with 8800 TVTs.

At No.8 were Star Plus' two shows - Mahabharat and Pyaar Ka Dard - that registered 7000 TVTs.

Colors' Baalika Vadhu was at No.9 in the week ended December, 28 with 6900 TVTs.

Zee TV's Dol Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se stood at No.10 with 5800 TVTs.

The above mentioned figures are approximate figures of the shows. For the record, TVT is television viewership in 1000s (TVR in 1000). It is the average number of individuals in '000s that are available at any given minute of a programme/day part that is under consideration. It captures growth in TV audiences in the country in absolute numbers. The TVR system, in contrast, works on percentages.
