GEC Watch: Life OK touches its highest ratings

Colors displaced Zee TV to get second position in the Hindi GEC flock. Balika Vadhu made a comeback amongst the Top 10 after a gap of several weeks.

Life OK, the second general entertainment channel (GEC) from STAR India, made huge gains from the very first award show that the two year old channel telecast on January, 25. The channel grew from 347319 GVTs to 375035 GVTs, on the back of the award show. The Kamla Pasand Life OK Screen Awards garnered 8998 TVTs in the first screening.

Despite a loss of 19394 GVTs, Star Plus continued to maintain its lead in the genre with 606356 GVTs, as per TAM data (C&S, 4+, HSM, including LC1 markets) provided by a subscriber. Four of Star Plus' shows found places in the top viewed shows' list.

Colors displaced Zee TV to get second position in the Hindi GEC flock. It lost numbers to register 449436 GVTs in the week ended January 25. Three of its shows featured in the top viewed shows' list.

Zee TV, meanwhile, slipped to the third position with 441173 GVTs, down from Week 3. Only one of the channel's shows could be listed in the top ten shows.

At No. 5 was Sony's sister GEC SAB TV with 323130 GVTs (last week 318298 GVTs). Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah ranked in the top ten list.

STAR Utsav and Zee Anmol, the re-run channels from STAR India and ZEEL, clocked 79870 and 75808 GVTs. Sahara One concluded the week with 36352 GVTs.

Star Plus' Diya Aur Baati Hum ruled the roost of the top programmes in the Hindi GECs with 13979 TVTs. It was followed by Comedy Nights with Kapil (Colors) that scored 11785 TVTs.

Zee TV's Jodha Akbar and Star Pus' Saathiya Saath Nibhana stood next with 11246 and 10101 TVTs, respectively. At No. 5 was SAB's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, which notched 9486 TVTs during the week.

Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai stood at No. 6 with 9143 TVTs. Life OK Screen Awards scored 8998 TVTs, followed by Colors' Balika Vadhu and India's Got Talent which clocked 8105 and 7809 TVTs. Balika Vadhu entered the list after a long time.

Last in the list was Mahabharata (Star Plus) with 7700 TVTs.
