Starting February 8, the STAR India flagship channel had extended telecast of its weekday shows to Saturdays. The added numbers are no surprise as the fiction line up of Star Plus is very strong. The past data of TAM reflects that on an average, four-six of its shows feature in the top 10 shows' list and the channel clearly has raked in profit from that.

The channel also aired Star Guild Awards on Sunday, February 2. The two have combined to create history as Star Plus added 101661 GVTs (gross viewership in thousands) to register 728231 GVTs in the week ended February 8. Not only the numbers, the channel's share in the space has hit a new high of 27 per cent.

As per TAM data (HSM, C&S, 4+), Star Guild Awards registered 8100 TVTs (television viewership in thousands). The latest edition of the award show was hosted by Salman Khan. It has accompanied six other shows of the channel (Star Plus) in the top 10 shows' list.

Interestingly, the channel not only recorded highest ratings so far, it also ruled all the time slots, except the 8 pm slot that was led by Zee TV's Jodha Akbar that garnered 13300 TVTs, displacing Diya Aur Baati Hum (Star Plus) which has occupied the No.1 spot for weeks.

Zee TV held on to the second spot as its historical drama Jodha Akbar ruled the top 10 shows' chart in Week 6 of TAM. The channel added 27657 GVTs in its tally to record 495313 GVTs. Two of its shows featured in the top shows' list.

At No.3 was Colors that closed the week with 424431 GVTs, as compared to 446579 GVTs, last week. The channel pushed one of its shows to the top shows' list.

Following is STAR India's second rung Hindi GEC Life OK that clocked 343882 GVTs (last week 386659 GVTs) as Sony Entertainment Television's sister channel SAB TV got 291599 GVTs (last week 318766 GVTs).

Multi Screen Media's flagship Hindi GEC Sony ended the week with 251650 GVTs (last week 298060 GVTs).

Amongst the Hindi GECs that air repeats, STAR Utsav garnered 86884 GVTs (last week 84091), followed by Zee Anmol with 79408 GVTs (last week 65415 GVTs).

Sahara One concluded the week with 35896 GVTs (last week 39172 GVTs).

Jodha Akbar took the No.1 spot in the top 10 shows' list with 13300 TVTs.

The next five slots are occupied by Star Plus' Diya Aur Baati Hum (12400 TVTs), Saathiya Saath Nibhana (9800 TVTs), Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (8200 TVTs), Star Guild Awards (8100 TVTs) and Mahabharat (7900 TVTs).

The seventh spot on the chart is taken by SAB TV's flagship show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah that clocked 7600 TVTs.

At No.8 is Colors' Comedy Nights with Kapil that got 7300 TVTs, followed by Star Plus' Pyaar Ka Dard (7000 TVTs) and Zee TV's Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke (6600 TVTs).

For the record, the figures mentioned are approximate TVT figures. TVT is television viewership in 1000s (TVR in 1000). It is the average number of individuals in '000s that are available at any given minute of a programme/day part that is under consideration. It captures growth in TV audiences in the country in absolute numbers. The TVR system, in contrast, works on percentages.
