AXN India to award the most thrilling

The award ceremony will be an on-air event of an hour on March 28, driven by the votes gathered from viewers.

Termed AXN Thrillionaire Awards, AXN India has decided to felicitate the most thrilling performances on the channel, based on viewers' decisions. The award show which has no connect to any on-ground event, will be an hour-long episode hosted by model-actor Lisa Haydon.

The channel has had action awards earlier. It claims that it intends to felicitate the viewer to gratify him for his years of association with the channel. Through these awards, AXN will hunt for the biggest AXN Total Thrill Junkie [TTJ] and provide the winner an opportunity to be on the sets of The Voice in Los Angeles. To participate, viewers who vote in any of the categories of the awards have to share the same on their social media pages. The winner will be selected based on the number of friends following or liking that particular post.

Lisa Haydon, who's performing career spans movies, television and the stage, will host the AXN Thrillionaire Awards. The episode will be aired on March, 28. The show is powered by Myntra.

Sunil Punjabi, business head, AXN India, says, "There are a lot of viewers who have patronised us through all these 15 years of AXN India's existence. At some point of time, we really wanted to bring an award function such that the viewers, too, get something from the show. This is an award function which is purely based on the viewers' decision. People do talk about our shows every now and then on the social media platforms and we wanted to give them a platform to get recognised and express their feelings."

This is the first edition of the AXN Thrillionaire Awards and it will be an annual property for the channel which will be promoted largely on TV and digital media. The network channels of Multi Screen Media will be tapped for the television promotion. The online voting system will be routed through www.axnawards.com and this will be integrated across the channel's Facebook and social media presence.

The show will have two repeats at most. Punjabi explains, "There might be two repeats on the following weekend. It doesn't have too much of a shelf life. It is the first of the global initiative; none of the international territories have seen this kind of thing."

With the Thrillionaire Awards, AXN continues the format of voting wherein the fans will play the most important role of choosing their favourites from the various categories.

Each category has four nominations and the categories are Thrilling Moments, Thrilling Premieres, Thrilling Series, Thrilling Reality, Thrilling Gang, Thrilling Man and Thrilling Woman.
