GEC Watch: Li'l Masters boosts Zee's numbers

Zee Network's flagship Hindi general entertainment channel Zee TV is the biggest gainer of the week, courtesy its reality show, DID Li'l Masters Season 3 launch episode on March, 1. In addition to this, the channel has a new entrant in the Top 10 shows' list, Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se. Its Bollywood award show, Zee Cine Awards, has performed well too.

Overall, amongst the top GECs, only Zee TV and Life OK gained numbers in the week.

As per data provided by a TAM subscriber (HSM, 4+, C&S, including LC1 markets), Star Plus continued to lead the Hindi GEC flock with 637273 GVTs (last week 687650 GVTs). Three of its shows witnessed good viewership to be present in the top shows' list.

At No. 3 was Colors, which closed the week with 465001 GVTs, down from last week's 502065 GVTs. Colors' India's Got Talent and Comedy Nights performed quite well and stood in the Top 10 list in Week 9.

Next in the ranking was Life OK with 341451 GVTs (last week 317767 GVTs). It was followed by Sony Entertainment Television, which grossed 306155 GVTs (last week 338986 GVTs).

SAB TV was at No. 6 with 302915 GVTs and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah made it to the top shows' list.

STAR Utsav scored 97717 GVTs (last week 86380 GVTs), followed by Zee Anmol with 64845 GVTs. Rishtey, Viacom 18's re-run channel, stood next with 38775 GVTs. Sahara One recorded 36766 GVTs.

Star Plus' Diya Aur Baati Hum continued to be the most watched show on Hindi GECs with average of 13126 TVTs. This was followed by Zee TV's flagship reality show DID Li'l Masters Season 3, which recorded 11099 TVTs in its launch episode. Jodha Akbar stood next with 10856 TVTs.

At Nos. 4 and 5 stood Star Plus's fiction properties Saathiya Saath Nibhana and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai that fetched 10244 TVTs and 8647 TVTs, respectively. Next was Colors' Comedy Nights with Kapil in its Mahasangam episode on Saturday that got 8482 TVTs.

SAB TV's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah clocked 7554 TVTs and was placed at No.7.

Colors' reality talent hunt show India's Got Talent had its Mahasangam episode which garnered 7544 TVTs. Zee TV also telecast its annual Bollywood award event in Week 9 of 2014, which recorded 7035 TVTs. Zee TV's fiction property Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se entered the Top 10 list at the end with 7014 TVTs.

For the record, the figures mentioned are approximate TVT figures. TVT is television viewership in 1000s (TVR in 1000). It is the average number of individuals in '000s that are available at any given minute of a programme/day part that is under consideration. It captures growth in TV audiences in the country in absolute numbers. The TVR system, in contrast, works on percentages.
