Prem Kamath puts in his papers at Star India
He is moving on from Star India after a stint of around seven years. He had joined the company as senior vice-president, marketing and communication in 2007. Two years later, he moved to Channel V as general manager, marketing.

In April 2013, Star assigned him the additional responsibility of general manager, Star Pravah, stepping into Nachiket Pantvaidya's shoes. Kamath is an MBA from Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad (MICA). He passed out from MICA in 1998 and joined Bates David Enterprise (then Enterprise Nexus) in Mumbai. After a year, he moved to Leo Burnett. His stint at Leo Burnett lasted for about eight years. During this span, he worked on prominent brands such as Coca-Cola, Thums Up, Maaza, Bajaj Auto, Kellogg's and Johnny Walker.

In Kamath's tenure at Channel V, the channel underwent a revamp. Channel V, which was a music channel earlier, had completely stopped airing music from July 1, 2012. It took a daring route for a music channel and turned into a Hindi general entertainment channel targeting the youth. It targets the age group of 15-24 years of SEC ABC from the Hindi speaking markets.

Last year, on November 25, the channel again went for a fresh look with a new baseline that says, 'Correct Hai'. Not only this, Channel V also started experimenting with a bi-weekly format, wherein its fictions were aired twice everyday, in the weekdays.
