Star Plus: Cousinly Spirit

The channel will soon launch a fiction daily, titled 'Nisha Aur Uske Cousins'.

Star Plus has, over the years, explored various relationships, be it of husband-wife, mother-in-law- daughter-in-law, a woman's bonding with her family and her in-laws. This time around, the channel is exploring a bonding which is dear to many; someone who is a friend and also family - the cousin. The channel is all set to launch 'Nisha Aur Uske Cousins' soon, replacing one of its daily fictions.

'Nisha Aur Uske Cousins', as the name suggests is the story of Nisha and her five cousins. The family of a grand old man, three brothers and their children is set in Jaipur. The show will talk about issues relevant to young people today as it will also talk about a "cross-generation" conflict. There is the grandfather's point of view, the parent's point of view as well as the cousin's.

"It is an interesting story that will reflect how young people think and how older ones think. It will take issues and topics in a rare and relevant manner," says a source close to the channel. There have been shows on Hindi GECs, featuring cousins but their bonding has never been a focus.

Friends first

"The bonding between cousins is interesting because they occupy a sweet spot between friends and family. You don't have to hide your true self from them, like you have to sometimes from your immediate family. Also, with friends there is a particular space where you cannot discuss everything about your family with them. With cousins, you can have fun and discuss about family too," the source adds.

The channel has also lined up an 'Airlines' story about a young woman (played by Tulip Joshi) who joins a commercial airline to be a pilot. It is a story about her journey to be recognised and accepted on equal terms by male pilots.
