Colors makes Second Attempt at Historical Drama

The show, 'Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat', has been developed by writer Ashok Banker and produced by Contiloe Entertainment.

Colors makes Second Attempt at Historical Drama
Colors, the flagship Hindi general entertainment channel from Viacom18, has announced the launch of a show, based on the life of one of the most famous emperors in the Indian history, Ashoka. The channel had, in the past, aired a show titled 'Veer Shivaji' on the life of Shivaji. It will be the channel's second attempt to air a historical show.

This is the first show on the life of Ashoka. It narrates the valour and greatness of the emperor whose life experiences continue to be meaningful lessons for the audience even today, the channel believes.

Says Raj Nayak, CEO, Colors, "Nothing gives us more joy than recreating history by narrating the story of one of the greatest rulers of India. This is a big show for Colors and we will be putting all our resources behind it. All the splendour and majesty of this great emperor will come alive on this extraordinary series as we promise to take our viewers through important chapters in Indian history."

For Banker it has been a long and tedious process of carefully joining the dots and putting together a regal story for the viewers. "We hope to recreate history on Indian television with our significant efforts of retelling this great tale that changed the face of India's cultural heritage."
