In a recent development, the Viacom18-owned Hindi GEC Colors has bought the rights to air the awards. The channel has partnered with Sansui for the event as the presenting sponsor. The awards will be held on December 14 in Mumbai and will be aired on TV in January next year.

The Sansui Colors Stardust Awards will celebrate achievements in the field of film-making. There are over 25 award categories, including some newer ones like International Icon of the Year.

The event will witness performances by several actors including Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Parineeti Chopra, Sonakshi Sinha and Arjun Kapoor. They will perform acts choreographed by Geeta Kapoor.

The awards function will be hosted by director Karan Johar and actor Riteish Deshmukh.

The on-ground show will be executed by Cineyug, an events agency.

Raj Nayak, CEO, Colors, says, "This is our first year of partnership with Stardust and Sansui, and we are collectively working towards creating the biggest and most credible awards show. As the first such endeavour in 2015 to recognise and celebrate the talent that was showcased in the year gone by, we are striving to enhance the scale of the show while making it an entertaining proposition for our viewers."

Talking about the association with Stardust, Amitabh Tiwari, COO, Sansui, says, "Both Stardust and Colors stand for entertainment and brand Sansui exemplifies quality entertainment by offering technologically advanced televisions and mobile phones."

Nari Hira, chairman, Magna Publishing, comments, "This is the 12th year of Stardust Awards. I am pleased that the scale of the awards will outdo everything we have done before. Thanks to our tie-up with Colors and Sansui, the show will be the first and probably the biggest event of 2015."
