According to Abhimanyu Singh, ‎CEO, Contiloe Entertainment (producer of Adaalat), when a channel is doing shows based on mystery/thriller, it needs to constantly innovate.

It may be recalled that in July this year, CID and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma, a comedy show from Sony's younger sibling Sab TV were brought together for a two week long run of episodes.

"The idea here was to go beyond special episodes that bring together the popular characters of the two shows like KD Pathak, Daya, ACP Pradyuman and Abhijit together. It needed a lot of planning, scripting to make this movie and we hope it is well accepted by the audiences," Singh adds.

The movie premiere is being promoted on the Multi Screen Media network channels. It has been directed partly by Siba Mitra (director of CID) and Raminder Suri (director of Adaalat). The cast of the two shows shot for around 15 days for the movie. It was shot on the sets of both Adaalat and CID and different parts of Mumbai.

It is to be noted here that the actors of the movie have been paid in accordance to their remuneration in their respective shows.

The Plot:

Atmanand, a Mahaguru of an Ashram is involved with many international criminals in a scandal. Crime journalist Meghna, daughter of ACP Pradyuman's friend, goes to the ashram to find out the truth, however she is mysteriously murdered! Atmanand is accused of killing her but KD Pathak decides to defend him as he believes he is innocent, against CID's wish.

Investigation reveals the Mahaguru has lookalikes in the ashram and he has been threatened before. It is revealed that one of his lookalikes Kiran was the actual murderer and his disciple Sarvesh is arrested as the mastermind behind the entire ploy.

On the other hand, CID team gets mysterious calls from Meghna's phone and their doubt about the Mahaguru get stronger. Mahaguru calls KD and while they were in a vault Daya comes in too but a gas leak leaves everyone unconscious leading to the Mahaguru's murder with murder weapon in KD's hand. As KD is accused, CID team however does not believe that he can murder somebody for money.

On further investigation, the gun dealer is caught and Daya's name is revealed leading to his arrest. In a turn of events, everyone is shocked when Daya accepts to all the charges on him. Understanding that something is definitely wrong, KD and the CID team come together to catch the real culprit. The investigation leads to KD and Abhijeet getting trapped and fighting for their life.

The movie will answer the questions about who is the culprit and why is he after the CID team and KD? Will KD and Abhijeet get away unscathed? What is the mastermind's plan?

For the record, Sony, the flagship Hindi GEC from MSM's stable is trying hard to regain its lost glory. The No.6 channel in the space has also launched Balaji Telefilms' Box Cricket League on December 14 and is expecting a viewership push through the same as well. Having said that, it is only next week that the channel will be getting the result of its hard work that has gone behind in making the CID-Adaalat special movie and BCL in the form of TAM ratings.
