AXN announces January line-up

The channel will air Sherlock Thrillathon on December 26. It will also air four new shows next month.

AXN, the English entertainment channel from the Multi Screen Media stable has announced the launch of four new shows in January 2015. Besides, as a part of the festive season, the channel will air Sherlock Thrillathon wherein three seasons of Sherlock will be aired on the channel over a span of three days, starting December 26 from 12 noon to 6 pm.

The first show to launch in January will be 'Top Gear, Season 21'. The BAFTA and Emmy award winning motoring show will take the viewers to "amazing" locations to test the powerful and exotic cars. The famous trio of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May would make it an entertaining show, the channel said. Launching on January 3, the show will air Saturday and Sunday at 8.30 pm.

Starting January 10, the channel will air a new TV series, 'Madam Secretary'. Co-produced by Morgan Freeman, the show is a political drama rooted in White House diplomacy. Elizabeth Faulkner McCord (played by Tea Leoni), CIA-analyst-turned-college-professor is promoted to be United States Secretary of State under unusual circumstances. McCord gets an offer from the president that she can't refuse, but now has to balance her complex family life and office politics as she tries to drive international diplomacy. The show will air every Saturday at 11 pm, Thursday at 11.30 pm (repeat) and Sunday at 4 pm (repeat).

'Top Chef, Seattle - Season 10' will premiere on AXN on January 26. Padma Lakshmi will be back as the host on the famous culinary show with 21 professional chefs. The judges Tom Colicchio, Emeril Lagasse, Wolfgang Puck, Gail Simmons and Hugh Acheson will evaluate them on some ordinary and not-so-ordinary culinary expertise like knife skills and creating a breakfast on a stick. It will air Monday to Thursday at 8 pm.

Launching on January 31 is 'Wake Up Call'. The show will feature Dwayne Johnson lending a helping hand to everyday people who are facing enormous challenges in their lives, whether they are dead-beat dads, sports teams that don't gel, or business owners struggling to survive. Johnson will bring his own brand of motivation to each group of people - from 4 am wake-up calls to emotional reunions and goal setting. Produced and hosted by Johnson, the show will bring in rock style motivation on the TV screen, with the motto - 'when life gives you lemons, crush them', the channel said. It will air every Saturday and Sunday at 9 pm.
