Pepsico's Rajiv Mathrani joins Bharti Airtel as chief brand officer

He will report to Srini Gopalan, director, consumer business, Bharti Airtel (India).

Telecom giant Bharti Airtel has announced the appointment of Rajiv Mathrani as chief brand officer for its India operations. Mathrani joins Airtel from Pepsico, where he led the snacks category and portfolio strategy.

He takes over from Mohit Beotra, who has quit the company to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities.

Mathrani will report to Srini Gopalan, director - consumer business, Bharti Airtel (India).

In his 16 years of experience, Mathrani has worked with top companies including GlaxoSmithKline, Citibank and Marico Industries. He has been a creative consultant for a brief period of three years, before returning to the corporate world as vice president, marketing, at Pepsico in 2010.

Bharti Airtel, with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, is headquartered in New Delhi. In India, the company's product offerings include 2G, 3G and 4G wireless services, mobile commerce, fixed line services, high speed DSL broadband, IPTV, DTH, enterprise services including national and international long distance services to carriers. In the rest of the geographies, it offers 2G, 3G and 4G wireless services and mobile commerce. Bharti Airtel claims to have over 330 million customers across its operations, as of June 2015.
