Mumbai dabbawalas are on a mission to help Mumbaikars build healthy habits with Bacter Shield Natural Germ Guard, as leptospirosis threat looms large this monsoon. One lakh people who get dabbas (tiffin boxes from home) will be given free samples of Bacter Shield Natural Germ Guard soap on August 20. This initiative by VVF India, a global player in personal care products and Oleo-chemicals, aims at promoting the healthy practice of washing hands before eating.
Bacter Shield soap was launched by VVF India in 2010. Now, it is also available in the hand wash variant. VVF is a global player in the chemicals and personal care products. Headquartered in Mumbai, VVF has over 16 operating centers spread across the four continents of Asia, North America, Africa and Europe. The company claims to currently stand as one of the largest manufacturers of Oleochemicals in India and bar soaps in the world. Founded in 1939, VVF celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2014.
The company has three main business verticals - contract manufacturing, consumer products and Oleochemicals. In addition to having its own range of brands like Doy, Doy Care, JO and Bacter Shield, VVF also manufactures soaps and cosmetics for other global players.
