Uber and Droom to provide on-demand chopper rides

The on-demand chopper rides will be provided across Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune as a special Christmas offering for customers.

Online cab aggregator Uber has partnered with Droom, the online marketplace, for used automobiles to offer on-demand chopper rides to users this Christmas. The move is facilitated by the Aerial Vehicle category on Droom's platform, which allows its users to rent and purchase aerial vehicles to fulfil their private aviation requirements.

Under the partnership, Droom will enable reservations for half-hour chopper rides for users through the Uber app on Christmas.

Speaking on the announcement, Rishab Malik, co-founder and vice-president, business development, Droom, says, "This partnership is meant to deliver a unique way of celebrating Christmas with Uber's consumer base across the four major metros in India. Droom provides its customers with selection, pricing and trust for any automobile asset and service. The alliance leverages our Rides and Rentals category for select Uber customers."

A spokesperson from Uber further adds, "Uber is all about giving riders an amazing and unique experience. This is the third time we're partnering with Droom (the first two being Supercars in Delhi and Chandigarh), and we are quite excited to do so. Droom will offer chopper rides to our customers in Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune this Christmas."

The lucky users availing this offer will get some princely treatment. Uber will pick and drop them to the venue, where they will be treated to a lunch/snack before they proceed for the ride. Droom and Uber had previously collaborated for their 'Supercar on Demand' initiative, allowing consumers a chance to rent premier vehicles such as the Audi R8 and Hummer, and enjoy the superlative experience of being at the wheels of a supercar.

Founded in April 2014 in Silicon Valley, Droom is a mobile-first marketplace with a presence on three platforms including Android, OS and Desktop. It has a team of over 100 in its offices in Gurgaon (India) and Silicon Valley (USA).
