Microsoft Surface discovers the non-starry side of celebrities in its web series #BeneathTheSurface

#BeneathTheSurface hosted by film critic Anupama Chopra endeavors to explore the grounded simple side of Bollywood celebrities.

So often in life, people are not always what they seem to be. We usually judge a person by his/her outer personality while completely ignoring the story they have beneath the surface. But to know an individual inside out, it's important to consider all aspects of their lives.

#BeneathTheSurface, a web series of celebrity interviews hosted by famed film critic Anupama Chopra, brings out the other side of Bollywood celebrities in an attempt to show the person these celebrities are beneath the surface. For us, a star is a star but beneath the glittering starry surface he/she is a normal human living the dreams that they always had. This web series tries to showcase the very same aspect of celebrities which commoners are unaware of.

The celebrities are interviewed in their natural surroundings to have a clear picture of how they live their lives away from the flashing cameras, glamour, and stardom. It shows the long working hours and madness that made them the global icons they are today.

The first part of #BeneathTheSurface takes us to the wonderful New York house of Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra. We get to see how Chopra lives in her home, away from the preying eyes of media and shutterbugs. She is like the regular girl-next door as we know, wearing no makeup and wandering in loose shirt and unkempt hair. She works for almost 12-15 hours every day, even on weekends, more than what normal people like us do.

Through #BeneathTheSurface we see how Chopra also struggles with the same issues which commoners like you and I do, like cooking and experiencing the nostalgic feeling of living away from one's home in an alien land. We also see how, beneath the starry persona we have a simple girl who has an attachment with her maid-servant, takes out time for relationships and love, and has an emotional side to her.

Chopra is also a well-known name in Hollywood with her role of Alex Parrish in the TV show Quantico but #BeneathTheSurface shows us the girl who has put in a lot of effort to achieve stardom, in a different country and territory (television).

With all the stardom and glitter, her life and the person she is hasn't changed. It was absolutely marvelous to catch her life away from the glam and glitz. Besides being the daring heroine on-screen, she is just like a normal human being who deals with her share of difficulties and sometimes gets bogged down by them.

#BeneathTheSurface has garnered positive feedback from folks on social media. On Twitter, people are widely talking about the show by tweeting with the hashtag #BeneathTheSurface. The concept has been appreciated and the excitement of knowing the non-starry side of Bollywood superstars among commoners is quite high.

Chopra's interview is the first part of the series and has garnered over 11 lakh views on YouTube alone. Other two parts of the web series - Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan - are also getting maximum eyeballs.

Microsoft Surface takes away the brownie points for this unique concept of going beneath the surface to reveal the hidden side of the superstars. The show has brought the best of both worlds (of celebs) just like the Surface generation of hybrid tablets.
