Kahaani leads the race again

This is the third time in recent weeks that Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki is at the top of the TAM 100 list for C&S homes

Winning is common but winning in style is remarkable. For Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, the Balaji Telefilms production on STAR Plus, this probably holds true. Not only has the drama series revolving around a north Indian joint family topped the ratings chart for the third week now (the show led the race in weeks 43 and 45), it has achieved this success with an envious score to its credit. For week 46 (November 10, 2002 to November 16, 2002), the November 13, 2002, episode of the show has a TVR of 11.01.

In week 46, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi comes in at second and third positions with scores of 10.97 and 10.89 (episodes telecast on November 12 and 13, 2002) followed by Kahaani with 10.43, 10.09 and 9.67 (episodes telecast on November 12, 11 and 14, 2002 respectively). Like most other weeks, with the exception of those moments when cricket and movies are at their peak, the Top 10 in week 46 has three ‘K' shows from Balaji - Kyunki, Kahaani and Kasautii Zindagii Kay playing musical chairs as usual.

Kasautii comes in at numbers 8 and 10 (scores are 9.29 and 9.13 respectively for episodes telecast on November 13 and 11, 2002), while Kyunki occupies the alternate slots, namely seven and nine (figures are 9.38 and 9.25 for episodes telecast on November 11 and 14, 2002).

Number 2 player Sony breaks into the Top 100 at position 29 with the November 12, 2002, episode of Kkusum clocking a TVR of 4.17. The same show is once again on the list at positions 33, 36 and 49 (episodes telecast on November 13, 11 and 14, 2002) with TVRs of 3.96, 3.74 and 3.27 respectively. Other Sony offerings include Hindi feature film Nayak at No 44 (TVR: 3.35) and Heena at No 98 (TVR: 2.56).

ZEE TV has only one show on the list, having to contend with a ranking of 66 for its Thursday Premiere movie Little John, which has a score of just 2.99 to its credit.

DD Sports has bagged a clutch of slots in the C&S Top 100 for week 46 with positions 11, 21, 22, 39 and 86 all reserved for the India-West Indies One Day series that saw figures as high as 9.11 for the second half of the cricket match telecast on November 15, 2002, to 5.48 and 3.44 for the first half of the same match. The cricket match, telecast on November 12, 2002, has figures of 5.39 and 2.77 respectively.

Even wrap-up programming on DD Sports have had their fair share of luck. The Blue Star Weather Report, Blue Star Pitch Report, Wisden 20:20 and Timex Superstats - all pertaining to the match on November 15, 2002 - clocked figures of 4.07 (No 32), 3.87 (No 34), 2.95 (for the second capsule of Blue Star Weather Report ranked 74), 2.93 (No 76) and 2.56 (No 99). The only non-cricket programme on DD Sports to make it to the Top 100 league is A to Z of Sports with a TVR of 3.21 and a ranking of 55.

Interestingly, the simultaneous telecast or simulcast of the India-West Indies One Dayer on November 15, 2002, on DD1 has also figured in the C&S Top 100 with scores of 3.81 (No 35) and 2.55 (No 100).

Sun TV and Gemini TV lead the south Indian brigade with Simmarasi, the movie telecast on November 10, 2002, on Sun TV heading the pack with a score of 3.5 and a rank of 38. Gemini has serial Amrutham as its top offering with a score of 3.38 and a ranking of 42. In total, Sun and Gemini have 19 and 15 programmes in the C&S Top 100 list.

In the All Homes Top 100 list, it is DD1 that dominates the scene with a whopping 60 programmes, followed by STAR Plus with 22, DD2 with 14 and DD Sports with 3.

Top STAR Plus offerings include Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi with TVR scores of 6.53 (No 11) and 6.5 (No 12) respectively. DD1 holds sway with CID Officer at No 1 with a TVR of 9.71. © 2002 agencyfaqs!
