Kasamm Se stumps Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham in the battle of the year-ends

The latest figures released by TAM has Balaji potpourri on New Year’s Eve grabbing the top honours on December 31

Ektaa Kapoor has done it again. Her year-end special titled Kasamm Se (on STAR Plus) has garnered TVR of 6.5 (No 12) - the highest among all New Year eve programmes in TAM's C&S Top 100 for the week December 29, 2002, to January 4, 2003. Sony's blockbuster Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham is second with TVR of 4.7 (No 23) followed by the Hindi version of Titanic (on STAR Gold) with 2.6.

The regular programmes telecast on the evening of December 31 also find a mention in the Top 100 including Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi at No 8 with a score of 7.5, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki at No 14 with a TVR of 6.2 and Kasautii Zindagii Kay at No 22 with a score of 4.8.

Overall, STAR Plus is the leader as usual with a total of 47 programmes in the Top 100 list. The top ranked show for the channel is Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki (episode telecast on December 30) with a TVR of 10 closely followed by the January 2 and December 30 episodes of Kyunki at 9.9 and 9.6 respectively.

The three K-shows from Balaji hog the limelight as far as the Top 10 goes with the only exception being the December 30, 2002, episode of Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand, which makes an entry at No 10 with a score of 7.4. Corresponding figures from No 4 to No 9 are as follows: 9.4 (January 1 episode of Kahaani), 9.4 (January 2 episode of Kahaani), 9.0 (January 1 episode of Kyunki), 7.8 (January 1 episode of Kasautii Zindagii Kay), 7.5 (December 31 episode of Kyunki) and 7.4 (December 30 episode of Kasauti) respectively.

Sony has its magic figure of five in the Top 100 with blockbuster K3G calling the shots followed by CID, Kkusum and Heena. Corresponding TVR scores are: 3.2 (January 3 episode of CID), 3.0 (January 2 episode of Kkusum), 2.9 (January 3 episode of Heena) and 2.6 (January 1 episode of Kkusum) respectively.

ZEE TV, on the other hand, has lone entrant Hathyar (Thursday Premiere) in the C&S Top 100. Telecast on January 2, this movie starring Sanjay Dutt and Shilpa Shetty is ranked No 94 with a score of 2.6 respectively.

Interestingly, ESPN continues its successful run in the current week as well. The network has three spots in the C&S Top 100 with the leader being the India-New Zealand one dayer telecast on December 29. Attracting a score of 6.5, this match is ranked at No 13 followed by the India-New Zealand one-day international telecast on January 1 with scores of 3.0 (No 70) and 2.6 (No 95).

Sister channels SUN TV and Gemini TV have a total of 31 and 12 shows in the C&S Top 100. The winner for SUN TV is Tamil feature film Paattaalee with a score of 5.7 (No 17) whereas Gemini TV has Telugu serial Ninne Pilladata ranked at No 44 with TVR of 3.6. © 2003 agencyfaqs!
