STAR Screen Awards one up on Fair Glow ZEE Cine

In a classic battle for the eyeballs, the annual Movie Awards telecast by STAR overtook Fair Glow ZEE Cine Awards

It was a classic battle for the eyeballs. In the end, the annual Movie Awards telecast by STAR overtook Fair Glow ZEE Cine Awards, though ZEE telecast its programme ahead of STAR (it was telecast on January 16 to STAR's January 18). According to the latest C&S Top 100 list released by TAM (week of January 12 to18, 2003), the Asian Paints STAR Screen Awards stands at No 21 (with TVR of 4.8) with the ZEE Cine Awards averaging a score of 3.3 (No 46). STAR'S movie awards make an appearance at Nos 62 and 73 to ZEE's 93. Corresponding figures are: 2.92, 2.77 and 2.42.

In total, STAR occupies 49 positions in the TAM C&S Top 100 with no major reversal of fortunes for K-serials, Kyunki, Kahaani and Kasautii Zindagii Kay. The three occupy the first 12 positions with Kyunki topping the charts with a score of 10.1 (episode telecast on January 15) followed by Kahaani with 10.1 (episode telecast on January 15) and the January 16 episode of Kyunki again with 9.1. Positions four and five have Kyunki in place whereas six, seven and eight have Kahaani and nine to 12 have Kasautii Zindagii Kay completing the line-up for STAR.

Sony has a total of four shows with the January 17 episode of thriller CID in the lead with TVR of 3.0 (No 55). Kkusum comes next with two episodes telecast on January 16 and 14. Corresponding figures are 2.6 (No 83) and 2.5 (No 86). Heena completes the line-up for Sony with the January 17 episode attracting a figure of 2.4 (No 90).

Sports channel ESPN-STAR Sports has a solitary position at No 49 with the India-New Zealand one-dayer telecast on January 14 attracting a TVR score of 3.1.

Interestingly, the gap between sister channels Sun TV and Gemini TV seems to be widening with flagship Sun occupying a total of 35 positions to Gemini's 9. This is the least in recent weeks for the Telugu channel, which has had a healthy attendance in the region of 14 to 20 on the list so far.

The movie formula continues to work wonders for Sun with Tamil feature film Pangha Thanthiram (telecast on January 15) enjoying TVR of 4.8 (No 20). In the week of January 12 to 18, Sun has telecast a total of five movies with the first six positions (for Sun) in the C&S Top 100 occupied by feature films alone.

Gemini on the other hand has serial Ninne Pilladata at No 58 with TVR of 3.0 (episode telecast on January 15) while the January 12 episode of sitcom Amrutham comes next with TVR of 3.0. © 2002 agencyfaqs!
