Ajay Kapila of JK Industries quits, joins Electrolux

Kapila's mandate would be to establish Electrolux’s brand 'leadership' across existing market segments

After a 15-month stint at JK Industries, Ajay Kapila, director, sales & marketing of JK Industries, has called it quits. He will now take over as vice-president sales & marketing, Electrolux Kelvinator.

Confirming the development, Rajeev Karwal, managing director & CEO, Electrolux Kelvinator Ltd, says Kapila would be coming on board on July 12.

"Ajay brings with him an in-depth knowledge and a first-hand experience of the consumer durables industry. Today, when Electrolux is on its way to become the most innovative consumer durables brand in India, we are confident that Ajay's appointment will add tremendous value to the organisation."

Kapila's mandate would be to establish Electrolux's brand 'leadership' across existing market segments, charter the growth of the brand in new areas, as well as enhance the end customer experience with the brand. "In his role as the head of marketing, Ajay would also oversee brand management, strategic planning and sales," Karwal says.

The appointment of Kapila, completes the apex management team of Electrolux India.

The other members of the apex team include Paul Gelardi, CFO, (earlier with UK-based Hibernia foods), Vilas Divadkar, Head technical and manufacturing, (formerly with Johnson Controls) and Koustav Mitra, HR head (from Coca Cola India).

On his part, Kapila, who is quite excited about his new assignment, says, "While I enjoyed a great relationship with JK Industries, I am actually passionate about the consumer durables industry. That's what made me accept this offer. I feel that Electrolux Kelvinator is going through exciting times. I am confident that with my domain knowledge, I will be able to contribute positively to the company's growth."

"On a personal note, I am looking forward to working with Rajeev Karwal again," Kapila adds. When Kapila was working as general manager marketing at LG Electronics, Karwal was vice-president sales and marketing. And after Karwal's exit, Kapila took over as vice-president sales and marketing.

Kapila began his career in 1986 with the Thapar Group. He later moved to Onida and subsequently joined LG Electronics in 1993. At LG, Kapila played a key role in the exponential growth of the company. After an eight year stint at LG, Kapila moved to Kinetic Engineering Limited as senior vice-president, sales & marketing. He was also a director on board and operational head of Kinetic's direct selling arm - Kinetic Marketing Services Limited. In his last assignment at JK Tyres, as director marketing, he played a significant role in further reinforcing and consolidating the company's dominating position in the Indian Tyre market.
