MindShare bags Apollo Tyres media business

The account was earlier being handled by The Media Edge (TME)

MindShare has bagged the media business of tyre major Apollo Tyres, the flagship company of the Raunaq Singh group. The account was earlier being handled by The Media Edge (TME).

Confirming the news to agencyfaqs!, the spokesperson of Apollo Tyres explained that the business was moved because the company was keen to consolidate the entire advertising business - both media and creative -- under the same advertising group, which is WPP.

The size of the media business is reportedly in the region of Rs 10-12 crore.

Earlier, JWT, part of the same WPP group with MindShare, has bagged the creative account of Apollo Tyres. The account was earlier being serviced by Everest.

JWT is an old hand when it comes to designing advertisements for the tyre industry. Its association with this industry began almost two decades ago, when JWT was known as Hindustan Thompson Associates (or HTA). The Dunlop creatives were developed by HTA, Kolkata. In the early and late '90s, CEAT and Bridgestone were in its kitty.

Apollo Tyres is the second largest manufacturer of truck and bus tyres in India after JK Industries. The company has a 19-20 per cent market share by volume. It is one of the top exporters to the African market.
