Mukul Saxena joins Havells as EVP and CTO

Saxena will head Havells’ Centre for Research and Innovation (CRI) function.

In a recent announcement, Havells India has appointed Mukul Saxena as executive vice president and chief technology officer. Saxena will head Havells’ Centre for Research and Innovation (CRI) function, and will further augment company’s customer centric innovative approach.

A seasoned innovation and technology professional, Saxena brings with him over 34 years of global experience across energy, industrial automation, digital and healthcare sectors with expertise in R&D, strategic planning, project management, innovation and technology management, product development for multiple industry segments. In the past he has built and lead teams with core focus areas as computational mechanics, mechanical design and simulations, electronics and embedded systems, automation and controls, and industrial turbines R&D.

Prior to joining Havells, Saxena headed Siemens' corporate research and technology center (CTI). He worked in Siemens as Sr. vice president and head of CTI, where he had a long and rewarding association for 14 years and was primarily responsible for building up the research center for Siemens in India. He started his career with GE Corporate R&D Center in Niskayuna, NY (USA) and relocated to India in 1997 to join Eicher Goodearth as Dy. general manager for engineering systems. While working for Eicher he was also responsible for setting up their in-house center of excellence for engineering analysis. In 2000, he moved to GE-ITC (John F Welch Technology Center) as technical director for advanced mechanical engineering and later worked as their only non-US based global technology leader for mechanical technologies.

With a Ph.D. and M.S. from University of Rochester, New York, USA and Bachelor of Technology (Mechanical) from IIT-Kanpur, Saxena holds a number of Honors and Awards and has been a member of various professional bodies. He has been the member of governing board for AIIMS-SIB-Siemens Consortium, member of academic advisory committee of PESIT-Bangalore, member Academic Senate – International Institute for Information Technology-Bangalore, Board of Governors for IIT Madras (2004-05), co-editor for a book on Geometry & Optimization Techniques for Structural Design and authored or co-authored 30 technical publications as chapters of books, international journals & conference proceedings.
