Dove ad takes a jibe at team Trump with its own 'alternative facts'

In a print ad, Ogilvy has creatively used a controversial phrase uttered by team Trump

A Dove ad that recently appeared in various British newspapers including the The Times and The Guardian, has creatively used the recent comments made by US President Donald Trump’s press secretary, Kellyanne Conway, who, when questioned if the President had lied, said that they were 'alternative facts'.

The ad features a list of 'alternative facts' on what Dove deodorant could do, ranging from increasing IQ, improving your Wi-Fi, to rhyming with orange, all with the cheeky addition of the hashtag of the said phrase.

While the ad does not directly make any reference to President Trump or Conway, the context is understood. Tham Khai Meng, Dove’s global co-chairman, in his statement to the press, says, “Brands live in a world of accountability. And that’s a good thing. To see one respond so swiftly with an #AlternativeFact moment, done gently and with a smile, reminds us of that."
