Abercrombie & Fitch 'De-Nudes' Ads

The apparel brand is in the news for covering up!

"I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch

I'd take her if I had one wish

But she's been gone since that summer, since that summer....

.....When I met you, I said my name is Rich

You look like a girl from Abercrombie & Fitch"

Such was the reputation of this sexy fashion brand that it came up in the lyrics of American pop band LFO's 1999 hit song 'Summer Girls'.

Now imagine being in the news because your ad doesn't flash skin anymore. The American fashion retailer, that, over the years, created a loyal ingroup-by-exclusion through its semi-naked models and overtly sexualised commercials, has been in the news of late for a series of ad campaigns that feature a bunch of suspiciously covered up youngsters.

This change has been incorporated at the in-store level as well; shirtless guys no longer greet patrons at A&F's on-ground promotional events in America, reportedly.

This is all part of A&F's re-branding efforts across platforms. The team recently wiped its Instagram account clean too.
