Aman Gill appointed CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures

Gill replaces Shubhodip Pal, who joined the company in April this year.

Aman Gill has been appointed as CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Balaji Telefilms Limited. He will assume his new role in early December 2015, and will report directly to Sameer Nair, Group CEO, Balaji Telefilms.

Speaking about Gill's appointment, Sameer Nair says, "Gill brilliantly balances creativity with commerce and is most deserving of this position and role. He has vast experience in developing, producing, marketing, distributing and syndicating films with various studios in the past, and has worked closely with talent in the agency business."

In his new role, Gill will assume all responsibilities spanning film development -- creative, production, marketing, distribution, and syndication. He will have all division heads report directly to him.

Ekta Kapoor, joint managing director, Balaji Telefilms, says, "Gill is a wonderful addition to the management bandwidth we're building at Balaji. There are several exciting projects in the pipeline which are in various stages of production. We also plan to scale up our movie business in the coming years. With several interesting initiatives underway, I believe Gill is the ideal professional to lead the charge."

Gill is currently serving his notice period with Junglee Pictures, where he was the chief content officer since June 2014. During his tenure, the company released films like Dil Dhadkane Do and Talvar. Prior to his stint with Junglee Pictures, Gill set up the film talent and literary business at CAA-KWAN, the celebrity and sports management agency, from 2012 to 2014. He also headed the acquisition and domestic distribution functions at Viacom 18 Motion Pictures from 2006 to 2010.

Gill started his career with Applause Entertainment, where he was assistant vice-president, content, where he earned his first film credit as an executive producer in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Black.
