Company Brief

Bengaluru, October 7, 2011

One of the country's leading jewellery designers and the brainchild of "Studio Tara" "Bharathi Raviprakash" unveiled her new and latest collection "The Ottoman Collection" at Collage, Bangalore's leading multi-designer store located at 21/2, Wood Street, Ashok Nagar. Collage is one of the few prestigious outlets that house this exclusive collection in Bangalore.

Inspired by the Ottoman Empire synonymous with opulence and grandeur, the "Ottoman Collection" reflects the beauty of gemstones set against a backdrop of shimmering gold. The designs borrow from stylized geometric, natural, floral and mystical motifs, typical of the richly decorative Ottoman style of jewellery making.

Ornate and colourful and fit for a queen, the Ottoman Collection includes Gold Earrings and a Pendant which reminds us of droplets of liquid sunshine, which magically crystallize into exquisite drop earrings and a pendant. Drops of beaten gold with a floral pattern are edged in a halo of glittering diamonds. A smaller, elongated droplet within is encrusted with a blood red ruby and uncut diamonds to recreate the splendour of a Sultan's aigrette.

Bharathi Raviprakash states, "The Ottoman collection recreates the magic of bejeweled sultans, bedecked Queens and seductive harems."

There is also a reminiscent of the trellis work screens in the Ottoman harem as seen in the Gold Earrings and Pendant with Filigree which come in an unusual leaf shape and echo the beauty of filigree work in gold. The fluid edges are encased in a row of dewdrop-like brilliant diamonds. A single teardrop ruby is enshrined within a defined parameter and a velvet blue sapphire adds the perfectly regal touch and a hint of colour.

Some of the Gold earrings and Pendants come with a blood red ruby, inspired by morning dew, golden sunshine and red roses. This set captures the timeless charm of the paisley motif. The delicate filigree work echoes the beauty of master craftsmanship and the jewellery pieces are defined with an edging of brilliant flickering diamonds. Cabochon rubies scattered like iridescent pomegranate seeds add a welcome splash of colour and are associated with love, passion, power and vivacity.

The twinkle in Bharathi's eyes, matches the twinkle of her diamonds and her passion for designing and her innate creativity led her to open "Studio Tara" in 2002 in Chennai. It has since, adorned discerning connoisseurs of jewellery not only in Chennai, but also in Chicago, Singapore, London, Washington, New York and Tokyo. Closer to home, she has held exhibitions in Bangalore and Hyderabad. Boasting of a global clientele, her designs and jewellery are well appreciated by the discerning.

The USP of Studio Tara is the range of designs on the design library that the clients can see and place orders on as it is and/or with adaptations or alterations. Bharathi also works around one particular piece, which catches the client's eye, to create an entire set.

She further commented about the store saying, "Collage is a classy store with an eclectic mix of designer clothing, accessories and now Studio Tara jwellery--a one stop store."
