The success of Airtel Super Singer 2006 and Airtel Super Singer Junior, has led to another hunt in 2008, this time much bigger. Thrilling and entertainment as it has always been, this year Airtel Super Singer is all set to find the best singing talent in TamilNadu.
The contest will have a few rounds of intense competition followed by eliminations and the selected will move onto various levels of competition eventually leading to the finals. This process will continue for 3 months leading into the finals in the month of September, 2008.
Airtel mobile subscribers were given a special opportunity to record their voice through their Airtel mobile phone and try for the auditions from their Airtel mobile phones by calling 543212727.
To heighten the audition process in Chennai, video booths were set up at various vantage points across the city at select retail outlets namely Airtel outlets, Spencers, Adyar Ananda Bhavan and inside the Abirami Mega Mall from June 22nd to June 26th 2008 for the participants to record their voice and gain entry for the auditions. Airtel subscribers could also pre-register for the auditions by calling 543212727 from their mobile phone.
Those who missed the above entries were given their last chance at Chennai to walk in for the auditions that will be held on June 27, 2008 at Mayor Ramanathan Chettiar Center, Santhome High Road from 8am onwards. For more information log onto www.vijay.indya.com.
Audience voting
Throughout the show on Vijay TV, viewers will also get a chance to express themselves by voting for their preferred singers.
Apart from gaining recognition from many acclaimed singers, the winner of Airtel Super Singer 2008 gets once in a lifetime opportunity to sing to the music composed by the talented and young music director, Yuvan Shankar Raja; son of the maestro Ilayaraja.
Popular playback singers Sunitha Sarathy and Deepan Chakravarthy will be the judges for the ground auditions at Chennai including playback singers like Prashanthi, Rajalakshmi and Vinaya as the preliminary judges. Only 15 talented contestants will proceed from this zone to the finals.

A 40 week show, this reality show will capture the emotions of the participants and their family; the joy, the disappointment, the exhilaration & the anxiety. This statewide hunt has completed the auditions at Coimbatore and Trichy. Playback singers S.P.Shylaja & Srilekha Parthasarathy were the main judges for Coimbatore zone and Playback singers Mahathi & Mathangi were the judges in Trichy zone and they selected 15 participants from each of the zone.
